PRECISION HEALTH SCHOOL

A series of interdisciplinary activities that will be held in Brazil to bring together multiple fields of knowledge, Master and PhD students, as well as young and pos doctoral researchers from several countries, to discuss and engage in experiences in veterinary and human medicine.

All the activities will be held in English language.

WHAT IS THE SCHOOL OF PRECISION HEALTH?

The School of Precision Health will take place in São Paulo State (Brazil) during:

July 17 to 30, 2025

Registration will be open from January 8 to March 17, 2025

ALL EXPENSES WILL BE COVERED BY THE EVENT ORGANIZATION

REGISTRATION CHECKLIST:

1)    The event will be conducted in English. You must declare your ability to communicate effectively in English.
 
2)    You must confirm your availability to participate fully in the event (from July 17 to July 30, 2025).
 
3)     A single PDF containing the following documents should be generated in order to proceed to your application submittion:
·       Intention letter containg a justification for your interest, specifying the importance of the course for your training, describing your research
        project and the institution where it is conducted, and providing the expected completion date of the program (master’s, PhD, or postdoctoral
        fellowship);
·       A one-page summary of the research project developed by the applicant;
·       A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s advisor or supervisor;
·       An updated academic transcript (for master’s and PhD);
·       A curriculum vitae highlighting relevant aspects of scientific work (including journal publications) with a maximum length of two pages;
·       A summary of the work to be presented at ESPCA (up to 400 words).

A science school for young researchers  all over the world

Master and PhD students and also pos doctoral researchers from Brazil and other countries with experience or interest on veterinary and human health are invited to apply and join the activities that will be mostly held in the city of Botucatu (São Paulo State).

We hope to receive applications from candidates that develop diverse science projects and that are open to dialogue with students and university professors and researches of different backgrounds.

Hands on engagements and visits

The school focus on multi and interdisciplinary activities in different fields, such as diagnosis,  toxicity, artificial intelligence, public health, oncology, stem cells, microbiome, monoclonal antibodies,  alternative therapies, genomics, metabolomics, and personalized medicine.

Lectures and workshops will be offered by outstanding researches on how these areas contribute to driving and answering questions in the areas of veterinary and human health.

Participants will work on multidisciplinary discussion groups, hands on experiences in site visits, oral presentations, and also pitch talks.

Practical activities will be led by instructors and teaching assistants.

FAQs:

Which documents are required for the application?•    A letter of intent explaining your motivation to apply, the importance of the course for your academic training, and details of your research project, including the institution where it is being conducted and the expected program completion date (master’s, PhD, or postdoctoral fellowship).
•    A one-page summary of your current research project.

Should I submit all documents in English, even if I am applying from Brazil?
Yes, all documents must be submitted in English.

How is funding handled for selected students with FAPESP scholarships?
Students receiving FAPESP scholarships are eligible to apply for the event. Full financial coverage for travel, accommodation, and meals will be provided for selected participants, except students currently receiving a FAPESP scholarship. These students must use their FAPESP’s technical reserve to cover these expenses.

Do I need to stay for the entire duration of the event?
Yes, selected participants are required to attend the event for its full duration, from July 17 to July 30 (14 days).

What happens if I am selected but later decide to withdraw?
If you withdraw after travel tickets have been purchased on your behalf, you will be responsible for reimbursing the cost of the tickets to the organizing committee.

How will I be notified if I am selected?
You will receive a notification via email.

Should Brazilian studying abroad apply as Brazilian or international applicants?
If you are currently enrolled in an academic program at an institution outside Brazil, you must apply as an international student.

Can I apply if I am not affiliated with a university or research institution?
To apply for the Precision Health School, you must be enrolled in a master’s or PhD program or have an official affiliation as a postdoctoral fellow or young researcher.

Do all selected students to the school have to present research results?
Yes, all selected students will have to present their research results as poster or oral presentation. The scientific committee will select the students for oral or poster presentation. Students will be informed by email.
